The first lodge Abbey View was opened in March 2000

Before this Lillian and Ron Stobbart had been running a nursery / landscaping business on the site.

Sadly Ron passed away suddenly and Lillian had to face the prospect of having to sell the home she loved. The family needed to diversify to prevent her having to move & self-catering lodges offered an opportunity to do this.

Lillian and Ron’s 3 children Lynnette, Annette & John and their families combined their efforts to develop what has become ‘Abbey View Lodges’. It is a truly genuine family business with even the youngest children playing their part.

The driving force and motivation for the success of the business has always been to create a park which Ron would have been proud of had he been alive to see it. Ron was a perfectionist with a true love of the countryside . He had worked tirelessly with Lillian for many years building up their nursery, when Ron died the land became difficult to manage and maintain.

It has been wonderful to see Abbey View Lodges develop and grow as a business in a way that maintains Rons strong belief in protecting and nurturing the environment.

The family are proud of what they have achieved so far and intend to maintain the ethos of high standards and attention to detail. It is important to us that our visitors have a good holiday experience. This is not just good business practise but a genuine desire to keep our guests happy and provide them with a little touch of luxury and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
